Men's Golf to Host 25th Annual Oregon Duck Invitational

EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon men's golf team will host the 25th annual Oregon Duck Invitational , Monday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 26 in Junction City, Ore. The Ducks will send seniors Aaron Byers and Brandon Harnden, juniors John Ellis and Chris Carnahan and sophomore Mike Sica into action on the at the 6750-yard, par-72 Shadow Hills Country Club. Oregon will also enter senior Chris Heniff, junior Ben Auten and sophomore Jimmy White as individual participants.
Three of the 16 participating teams are ranked among the nation's top-25 including last year's champion, No. 16 San Diego State, No. 18 Washington State and No. 22 Nevada.
'It's a good field, we have some teams coming who are particularly strong,' said Oregon coach Steve Nosler, who is in his tenth season with the Ducks. 'I can see us in a shoot-out with some of the top teams. We're hoping to finish well and be selected for NCAA regional competition.'
At Oregon's most recent appearance, the Ducks carded their top finish of the season with a second place tie at the Cleveland Golf Classic Westlake Village, Calif. Byers proved Oregon's top finisher, tying for fifth followed by Ellis who placed eighth with a final round 69.
At last year's Duck Invitational at the Eugene Country Club, Oregon finished third, nine strokes behind tournament champion San Diego State. Then-junior Aaron Byers led Oregon, tying for 3rd after recording a career-low 66 on the first day.
Competition results will be available Monday and Tuesday night by 8 p.m. on goducks.com
