Oregon Advances To WNIT Final With 65-54 Win Over Michigan State

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Shaquala Williams scored 21 points and CathrineKraayeveld added 16 points and 11 rebounds as Oregon beat Michigan State 65-54Saturday night in the semifinal round of the women's NIT.

The Ducks won for the ninth time in 11 games and advanced to the NIT finalto face Houston, a 77-72 overtime winner over Virginia Tech, on Wednesday nightin Eugene, Ore.

Williams shot 5-for-10 from 3-point range, and teammate Jamie Craighead made4 3-pointers and scored 14 points for the Ducks (21-13).

Reserve Kelli Roehrig led Michigan State with 13 points. Syreeta Bromfieldand Julie Pagel each scored 12.

The Ducks, who trailed 34-27 early in the second half, used a 17-3 run totake a 44-37 lead with 13:44 remaining. Craighead scored eight points in therun.

Bromfield made a 3-pointer at the 9:30 mark to tie the game at 47. Williamsanswered with five points in 8-0 run and the Ducks seized a 55-47 lead with7:44 left.

Michigan State closed within 55-51, but Craighead hit her third 3-pointer ofthe half to help put the game out of reach.
