OREGON THIS WEEK Oregon will attempt to open its Pac-10 season this weekend against No. 15 Oregon State. The Ducks hosted the Beavers March 16 in what was to be Oregon's Pac-10 opener, but the game was called because of snow. It has been rescheduled for Tues., April 2 at 2 p.m. The Ducks play a pair of games in Corvallis, one Friday and one Saturday both to begin at 2 p.m. at Oregon State's new Softball Complex.

THE LAST TIME OUTDefensively, the Ducks were impressive in a doubleheader versus UNLV Tuesday. Senior Connie McMurren pitched the first no-hitter of her career and just the 12th in Oregon history. The last Oregon pitcher to achieve the feat was Bethany Smith in 1997 versu Simon Fraser.McMurren improved to 6-3 on the year after Oregon won the game 5-0. The Ducks had five hits in McMurren's game -- two home runs (Jenn Poore, Kristi Hall), a triple (Alyssa Laux) and a single each by Janell Bergstrom and Amber Hutchison. In the opening game, sophomore Anissa Meashintubby also pitched a shut out -- her third of the season -- as the Ducks won 1-0. Meashintubby had zero walks and struck out seven in seven innings pitched. She now leads the team in ERA (1.70) and strike outs (55).
