Thomas Named As Color Commentator for CyberRays

March 29, 2002

BERKELEY - A familiar face to California women's soccer fans will be in the booth for the WUSA's San Jose CyberRays during the 2002 season. Golden Bear assistant coach Jennifer Thomas was announced Friday as the color commentator for the CyberRays local home television package this season. Veteran KCBS Radio sports announcer Hal Ramey returns to the booth for a second season of play-by-play duties.

During the inaugural 2001 season, Thomas was the sideline reporter for the CyberRays' local television package.

Thomas and Ramey make their debut as broadcast partners, April 27, when San Jose plays the Carolina Courage at Spartan Stadium at 4:30 p.m. All told, they will broadcast six games together.

Thomas, who starred as a defender at Cal from 1982-85, is in her fourth season as an assistant coach at her alma mater. She has an 'A' coaching license and previously began the girls' soccer program at Incline (Nev.) High School, as well as founded her own soccer camps in the Lake Tahoe basin.
