No. 34 Women's Tennis Edged by USC

TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 34 Arizona women's tennis team dropped their second match of the weekend losing to No. 16 USC, 6-1.

The Cats earned their point by winning two of three doubles matches. The No. 13 UA doubles pair of freshman Maja Mlakar and sophomore Debbie Larocque defeated USC's No. 8 duo of Tiffany Brymer and Jewel Peterson, 8-6. Wildcat senior Brooke Taylor and freshman Dianne Hollands won their match against USC's Melissa Esmero and Maureen Diaz, 8-6.

In singles play, Arizona played USC closely but fell in all six matches. UA's No. 20 Mlakar was edged by USC's No. 10 Peterson, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Arizona's Larocque, No. 94, was topped by USC's No. 35 Luana Magnani, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 while Hollands was tripped up in three sets by USC's Diaz, 4-6, 7-5, 7-6.

The Wildcats continue action on April 5 against the Univ. of Washington. The match begins at 1:30 p.m.
