Kristen Hunter Named Pac-10 Conference Pitcher Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State softball's junior hurler Kristen Hunter was named the Pacific-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week for March 25-31, as was announced by Commissioner Tom Hansen on Monday.

Hunter, from Portland, OR, went 2-0 (including a complete game shutout against in-state rival University of Oregon), and recorded her first save of the season in three appearances last week.

In that span, she struck out 15 batters in 15 innings of work. Hunter boasted a 0.93 ERA, giving up just two runs and a walk, to help the No. 14 ranked Beavers improve their record to 29-9 on the year and 2-0 in Pac-10 play.

Overall, Hunter has a 10-3 record to go along with a 1.35 ERA and 83 strikeouts. She has allowed just four hits and one walk in her last 18.1 innings of action.

The Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week award is the first of Hunter's career after transferring from Fresno State in 2001. The selection is Oregon State's 19th all-time.
