Women's Crew Travels South To Compete In The San Diego Crew Classic

Stanford, Calif. - With sweeping victories the past two weekends of racing, StanfordWomen's Crew is gearing up for its first major challenge of theseason as the team heads south for the San Diego Crew Classic.
The 13th ranked varsity eight will face ten of the nation's toptwenty crews in the Jessop-Whittier invitational event. The varsitywill be challenged in their heat by No. 1 Washington, No. 7 Virginia, No. 14Texas, Washington State, Miami, and Navy with the top three crewsadvancing to the grand final.
The second varsity have a challengingdraw. Two crews will advance from their heat which includes Duke,Texas, UC San Diego, Cal, UC Davis, Notre Dame and UCLA. The thirdvarsity will race in the Women's Open event. Two crews will advancefrom their heat which features a Cal alumni boat and the 1996Women's Olympic eight.
Lastly, the novices, drawing one of thehardest novice heats, will challenge Washington State, Texas, Cal, UCSan Diego, UC Davis, and Santa Clara for one of the two spots inSunday's grand final.
