Patricia Miranda Takes Pan-America Title

Maracaibo, Venezuela - Stanford senior Patricia Miranda took first place at the Pan American Championships at 112.4 pounds in March while coach Chris Horpel led the men's freestyle team to a second place finish behind a very experienced Cuban team.

Miranda recorded three collegiate wins this season after earning a silver medal at the 2000 World Championships. She was recently named a Pac-10 First Team All-Academic and will graduate this June.

Horpel currently serves as the Director of Wrestling at Stanford and is the head coach of the Dave Schultz Wrestling Club. He was the head coach of the men's freestyle team in Venzeula, which produced three champions and two runners-up.
