Stanford Women Advance To Grand Final At San Diego Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Stanford Women's Crew team competed in the San Diego Crew Classic heats on Saturday on Mission Bay.

The varsity eight competed in a wire-to-wire race, finishing in second place to the #1 ranked University of Washington with #6 Virginia finishing third. This qualified #13 Stanford to the Grand Final on Sunday where it will face #1 Washington, #3 Ohio State, #6 Virginia, #11 California, #20 Notre Dame and unranked Washington State.

The Cardinal second varsity finished fourth in its heat to California, Texas and Notre Dame. They will race in the petite final on Sunday against Kansas State, North Carolina, Oregon State, Minnesota, and Notre Dame.

The novice eight placed third in their heat after leading to the 1,000-meter mark. The novice will face Texas, San Diego, USC, San Diego State, and UC Irvine in the petite final despite having the fifth fastest heat time.

The third varsity finished third in its heat and will compete in the petite final.

Novice Eight -Women's Collegiate Novice Heat A: Washington State 6:58.50, California 7:01.53, Stanford 7:08.24, Texas 7:14.64, UC Davis 7:23.85, Santa Clara 7:29.93, UC San Diego 8:00.94.

Third Varsity Eight - Women's Open Heat B: Lookout RC 6:56.50, California Alumnae 7:10.12, Stanford 7:18.62, San Diego State 7:27.83, Chapman 7:33.23, ZLAC Cruz 8:02.61, UC San Diego Alumnae eliminated.
