Pac-10 Baseball Player/Pitcher of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA STATE sophomore first baseman Jeremy West has been named Pac-10 Baseball Player of the Week and CALIFORNIA senior right-hander Trevor Hutchinson has been named Pac-10 Baseball Pitcher of the Week for Apr. 2-8, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

West, from Las Vegas, Nev., led ASU to a series win at Washington State last weekend. In each game against the Cougars he hit a home run and now leads the team with 11 home runs. He also added three doubles, six runs and nine RBI on the week. West is batting .376 this season and has recorded hits in 27 of the Sun Devils' 34 games.

Hutchinson, from Del Mar, Calif., picked up his Pac-10 leading seventh win of the season at UCLA. He led the Bears to a 5-3 victory over the Bruins, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out six batters in 8.2 innings pitched. Hutchinson now has 262 career strikeouts, third on Cal's all-time list and only 14 K's away from becoming the school's strikeout leader.

The Player of the Week honor is the first for West in his career. It is the 65th selection all-time for Arizona State. The Pitcher of the Week honor is the first for Hutchinson in his career, and the 22nd selection all-time for California.
