USC will try to hold on to its top spot in the standings when it heads north to play the Pac-10's second-best team, STANFORD ... The Cardinal holds on to its No. 2 spot in the polls, while ARIZONA STATE has a different ranking in each poll, the highest at No. 16 in the Baseball Weekly poll ... The Sun Devils finish their last leg of a seven-game road trip at UCLA this weekend ... ARIZONA visits CALIFORNIA, and in-state rivals WASHINGTON and WASHINGTON STATE round out Pac-10 play for this weekend.

ARIZONA (21-14, 3-6)
Last Week: Stanford L 4-5 (18), 1-19, W 15-13 (8) This Week: *at CaliforniaArizona was able to come away with a 15-13 win against Stanford in the final game of the series. The game, suspended at eight innings, was decided by school administrators and Pac-10 officials that it would be final ... The Wildcats dropped the first two games of the three-game set. Records were set in the first game, as the 18-inning contest took a record 5 hours 19 minutes. It was the second longest game, inning-wise, in Wildcat history. FR Pat Reilly broke the NCAA record for most putouts in a game with 29 at first base ... Despite keeping the contest close, Arizona committed a season-high seven errors in the 5-4 loss ... In the Wildcats' Sunday victory, each starter had a hit, including eight with multi-hit games. UA was led by Reilly who went 3-for-6 with a double, three runs scored and two RBI ... Arizona is third in the Conference in pitching with a 4.41 team ERA. The Wildcats lead the Pac-10 in runs scored (277) and total bases (556) and are tied for first in triples (17) and home runs (36).

ARIZONA STATE (22-12, 6-3)
Last Week: at UNLV L 7-11, at WSU L 4-7, W 13-7, 22-4 This Week: *at UCLAASU won its seventh straight Pac-10 series, dating back to the Washington State series in Tempe last season. This past weekend marked the second time in a row that the Sun Devils have lost the opening game, only to come back and take the next two ... In its series against WSU, ASU outscored the Cougars 39-18, aided by its 22-4 Sunday victory. The 22 runs were a season-high and was ASU's highest scoring game since February 2001 ... SO 1B Jeremy West earned his first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor. In each game against the Cougars he hit a home run and also added three doubles, six runs and nine RBI on the week. West is batting .376 this season and has recorded hits in 27 of the Sun Devils' 34 games. He also leads ASU with 11 round-trippers ... SO RF Andre Ethier hit .357 last week with six runs, 8 RBI and two home runs. He, along with FR SS Dustin Pedroia, are the only Sun Devils to play in all 34 games this season. Ethier leads the team in batting average (.381) and hits (48) ... Sunday marked the seven-year anniversary of the last time the Sun Devils were shutout (Apr. 7, 1995 at USC) ... ASU leads the league in on-base percentage (.408), RBI (244), doubles (74), stolen bases (58), opposing batting average (.251) and strikeouts (298).

CALIFORNIA (22-15, 5-4)
Last Week: Santa Clara W 7-6, UCLA W 5-3, L 2-19, W 10-6 (15) This Week: at Saint Mary's, *ArizonaThe Golden Bears won their second Pac-10 series of the season, taking two games from the Bruins at home last weekend. Cal also defeated Santa Clara in a midweek game ... SO DH David Weiner had a great three-game series for the Bears hitting .467 (7-for-15). He also hit his first home run of the season, a grand slam in the bottom of the 15th inning in Cal's 10-6 rubber match win ... SR RHP Trevor Hutchinson was awarded his first Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week honor after leading the Bears to a 5-3 victory over the Bruins, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out six batters in 8.2 innings pitched. Hutchinson now has 262 career strikeouts, third on Cal's all-time list and only 14 K's away from becoming the school's strikeout leader. His 7-3 record, is the most wins of any other Pac-10 pitcher ... SO RHP Matt Brown is also getting it done on the hill as he picked up his sixth save of the season in Cal's opening win against UCLA.

OREGON STATE (19-12, 3-3)
Last Week: Portland W 11-1, at USC L 2-9, W 13-3, L 0-7 This Week: Hawaii-HiloThe Beavers lost their weekend series at USC 1-2, but went 2-2 on the week after defeating Portland 11-1 in a midweek match-up ... Oregon State won the second game of the series against USC in offensive fashion, unleashing for 13 runs on 17 hits. Every OSU starter had at least one hit in the game ... The Beavers were shut out in their final game against the Trojans. It marked the first shutout against OSU this season, and was the first time the Beavers had been shutout since the final game of the 2001 season. That loss was also at the hands of USC ... SO LF Seth Pietsch hit well last week going 7-for-16 (.438) with a triple, stolen base, three runs scored and two RBI ... Oregon State's offense is on the cusp of a .300 batting average, hitting 294. Several Beavers lead the team in different offensive statistical categories. JR 3B Brian Barden is pacing the squad in batting average (.348), hits (46) and RBI (27). He is tied for the lead with five home runs along with JR RF Chris Biles. Biles also leads OSU with 31 runs scored. Pietsch is leading the Beavers with 13 doubles and four triples. He currently ranks eight on OSU's list for most triples in a single-season.

STANFORD (22-7, 2-1)
Last Week: San Francisco W 4-1, at Arizona W 5-4 (18), 19-1, L 13-15 (8) This Week: San Jose, *USCIn its first Pac-10 series of the 2002 season, Stanford continued its winning ways defeating Arizona 2-1 in Tucson. The Cardinal's lone loss was a 15-13 contest that was called after eight innings due to travel plans ... Stanford started the weekend off with an 18-inning 5-4 win over the Wildcats. The contest was the fourth time in the last nine games that the squad has gone extra innings with three victories. JR RHP Ryan McCally earned the win after closing out the game, allowing two runs on seven hits with seven K's in a career-high eight innings. McCally sports a 2.88 ERA and has a 2-0 record with four saves ... SR 3B Andy Topham was great at the plate last week, hitting .526 (10-for-19) with a double, two home runs and a stolen base. He posted a career-high five hits in Friday's win ... The Cardinal plays a midweek game against San Jose State before hosting USC for its second Pac-10 series of the season.

UCLA (14-19, 1-2)
Last Week: at Long Beach State L 3-4, at California L 3-5, W 19-2, L 6-10 (15) This Week: at Pepperdine, *ASUUCLA lost its first Pac-10 series of the season at California, despite outscoring the Golden Bears 28-17 ... In the Bruins' 19-1 win, UCLA posted season highs in both runs and hits (19) ... In the Bruins' win, SR DH Adam Berry hit his 14th home run of the season. His 14 homers are tops in the Pac-10. He went 3-for-5 in the game and now has 13 multi-hit games this season. He is tied for the team lead in multi-hit games with SR 2B Ryan Rasmussen ... Rasmussen hit .421 and scored six runs last week and was a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts ... JR RF Ben Francisco is leading the team in runs (38), hits (47) and stolen bases. His 16 swipes lead the Conference ... JR RHP Doug Silva did well out of the bullpen last week, and posted career-highs in innings pitched (6.2) and strikeouts (7) in the Bruins' second loss to the Bears. Opponents are batting just .217 against him.

USC (18-14, 5-1)
Last Week: UC Irvine W 13-5, Oregon State W 9-2, L 3-13, W 7-0 This Week: at Cal State Fullerton, *at StanfordUSC has won six of its last seven games and is at the top of the Conference standings with just one loss in the two Pac-10 series it has played so far this season ... The Trojans took two of three games from Oregon State at Dedeaux Field last weekend. USC is now 6-4 at home after starting its home stand with three straight losses ... USC posted its second shutout of the season, defeating the Beavers 7-0 in the rubber match of the series. FR left-hander J.P. Howell and JR RHP Brett Bannister combined to allow no runs on seven hits. In three appearances last week, Bannister posted a 1.08 ERA and earned the win in the shutout after pitching five scoreless innings in relief. Bannister leads the team with a 2.91 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 46.1 innings pitched ... USC is ranked second in the Conference with a .316 batting average ... SR 1B Bill Peavey hit .500 (7-for-14) last week with two home runs and eight RBI. He is tied for the team lead in homers with seven ... The Trojans won their 600th game at Dedeaux Field in a midweek game against UC Irvine. USC is now 602-264-1 (.695) at its home facility.

WASHINGTON (12-15-1, 1-5)
Last Week: Gonzaga L 6-8, at Missouri L 9-11, 3-5 (12), 11-12 This Week: UC Irvine, *WSUThe Huskies struggled last week and is on a seven-game losing streak ... After playing a weekend of non-conference games on the road, Washington takes on UC Irvine in a midweek match-up before playing rival Washington State this weekend ... JR SS Tila Reynolds has been a bright spot in the line-up for UW. The junior shortstop is on a 14-game hitting streak. His .395 batting average is good for second-best in the Pac-10 and he also ranks third in the Conference in on-base percentage (.476) and fourth in hits (49). He has hit safely in 27 of Washington's 28 games this season ... With another home run last week, JR CF Jay Garthwaite now has 27 career homers and is fourth on the UW career home run list. He leads the team with 10 round-trippers and needs just two more to move into second place on that list and 16 more to break the record.

Last Week: Arizona State W 7-4, L 7-13, 4-22 This Week: *at WashingtonWashington State won its first game against Arizona State behind Eddie Bonine's performance on the hill. The junior right-hander pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on three hits with nine strikeouts. Bonine leads the Cougars with five wins on the season and is tied for most strikeouts (48) with JR RHP Brandon Hundt ... The Cougars are fifth in the Conference with a .307 batting average. WSU is led offensively by JR 3B Jeff LaRue. La Rue is batting .386 and also leads the squad with 12 doubles and a .596 slugging percentage ... Three different Cougars are pacing the team in hits. LaRue, SR 2B Bookie Gates and SR CF Evan Hecker each have 44 hits on the season.
