A large contingent of Stanford track & field athletes will be competing on Friday-Saturday (April 12-13) at the fifth annual Brutus Hamilton Memorial Invitational at Cal's Edwards Stadium ... The only event on Friday is the hammer ... The men's competition starts at 2:00 p.m. and the women's competition starts at 4:00 p.m. ... Field events on Saturday begin at 9:30 a.m. with the women's javelin and conclude with the women's high jump at 2:30 p.m. ... The first running event is the women's 400 meter relay at noon, and the day's running events will conclude with the men's 1,600 meter relay at 4:10 p.m ... This non-scoring meet will include several teams including Stanford, California, UC Davis and San Francisco State.

National Notes
Although the 2002 outdoor season is still in its infancy, Stanford track & field athletes have performed with high marks ... Five Cardinal athletes have qualified for the NCAA's which will be held in New Orleans (May 29-June 1) ... The list includes Caroline Annis (10,000 meters, 34:09.40, fifth-best all-time at Stanford), Jillian Camarena (shot put, 53-10 1/4, second-best all-time at Stanford), Louis Luchini (10,000 meters, 28:49.86, seventh-best all-time at Stanford), Jonathon Riley (5,000 meters, 13:40.59), and Donald Sage (10,000 meters, 28:40.12, sixth-best all-time at Stanford) ... Fifteen Stanford athletes have qualified provisionally for the NCAA Championships ... That list includes Ashley Wysong (800 meters, 2:07.41, eighth-best all-time at Stanford), Erin Sullivan (10,000 meters, 34:10.32, seventh-best all-time at Stanford), Molly Meyer (discus, 173-4, fifth-best all-time at Stanford), and Jill Camarena (discus, 170-5, seventh-best all-time at Stanford).

Pac-10 Points
Several Stanford athletes rank high in the Pac-10 standings for track & field ... Jonathon Riley is the conference leader in the 5,000 meters at 13:40.59, far ahead of Juan Reyes of Arizona State who has a season-best time of 13:57.52 ... Chris Emme (14:00.67), Grant Robison (14:01.08) and Louis Luchini (14:01.21) rank 3-4-5 in the 5,000 meters ... Donald Sage is the Pac-10 leader in the 10,000 meters (28:40.12) while Luchini is third at 28:49.86 ... Laura Turner is the conference leader in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at 10:16.24 ... Caroline Annis and Erin Sullivan lead the Pac-10 in the 10,000 meters at 34:09.40 and 34:10.32, respectively ... Jesse Thomas is second in the conference in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:55.34 ... The conference leader is Mike Hill of Washington at 8:46.92 ...
