Bruin Men's T & F Tied For No. 20 In Nation

Art Venegas' Bruin men's team is tied for No. 20 in the U. S., withBaylor, TCU, Idaho and Brigham Young (the Bruin women this week are rankedNo. 2). It's the highest ranking for the UCLA men this season. The No. 1team is Tennessee, the defending NCAA Outdoor champion. The USC men thisweek are tied for No. 16 in the nation.

On Saturday, May 4 at Drake Stadium, UCLA will host USC in the annualdual meet. Last Saturday (April 13) at Drake, the Bruin men defeated BYU indual competition.

Other Pac-10 teams in this week's Trackwire men's Top 25 are: No. 6Stanford and No. 16 (tie) Oregon. The upcoming Pac-10 T & F Championshipswill be held in Pullman, WA, May 18-19.

The Trackwire Top 25 is a power ranking of NCAA Div. I T & F teams.The ranking's methodology takes into account a variety of statisticalpredictors and is intended to project the outcome of the NCAA Div. IOutdoor T & F Championships. The scores provided with the rankings indicateeach team's projected score based on formcharts for each NCAA event.

The 2002 NCAA Div. I Outdoor T & F championships will be held May29-June 1 in Baton Rouge, LA.
