Bruins Compete At Mt. SAC Relays, Four Other Events

Jeanette Bolden's UCLA women's and Art Venegas' Bruin men's track andfield teams will compete at the Antelope Valley Invitational (AntelopeValley, CA), Pomona Invitational (Pomona, CA), Azusa Pacific Multi-Events(Azusa, CA), Long Beach Invitational (Long Beach, CA) and Mt. SAC Relays(Walnut, CA).
On Thursday, April 18, the Antelope Valley Invitational and AzusaPacific Multi-Events will take place. On Friday, April 19, the Bruins willcompete at the Pomona Invitational, Azusa Pacific Multi-Events and Mt. SACRelays. On Saturday, April 20, the Bruins will continue competition at theMt. SAC Relays and the Long Beach Invitational. On Sunday, April 21, theBruins will conclude competition at the Mt. SAC Relays.
This week ( April 15), in Trackwire's third outdoor season poll, theBruin women are rated No. 2 in the nation (up from last week's No. 3 spot).The UCLA men are ranked No. 20 (tie) this week (the Bruin men were notranked last week).
In this week's Team Power Ranking (based on individual marks and dualmeet strength), in the women's ratings, UCLA is No. 1 (385.27). In themen's rankings, UCLA is No. 3 (352.57), behind No. 1 Nebraska (371.58) andNo. 2 Tennessee (362.17), the defending NCAA Outdoor men's champion.In UCLA's first home meet of the season, March 16 at Drake Stadium,the Bruin women and men defeated Washington State and California in dualand triangular scoring.

Bruins Beat BYU/CS Northridge at DrakeOn Saturday, April 13, UCLA's track & field teams defeated BrighamYoung and CS Northridge in both dual and triangular scoring at DrakeStadium.
Jeanette Bolden's Bruin women, rated No. 3 in the nation byTrackwire, improved to 4-0 overall in 2002 outdoor dual competition withvictories over BYU (123-70), tied for No. 6 in the U. S., and CS Northridge(116-81, Northridge beat BYU 100-88 in dual scoring). The Bruin women alsowon the triangular competition (UCLA 169, CSN 117, BYU 101). In her ninthseason as the Bruin women's track & field head coach, Bolden's career dualmeet record is an unbeaten 67-0.
Art Venegas' UCLA men's team also improved to 4-0 overall in dualcompetition with wins over BYU (118-63), the Cougars are tied for No. 22this week in the U. S., and CS Northridge (123-63, Northridge lost to BYU,86-85 in dual scoring). The Bruin men also won the triangular (UCLA 173,BYU 97, CS Northridge 94).
The Bruin women had 11 individual event winners, led by true freshmanMonique Henderson, sophomore Sheena Johnson and senior Bunmi Ogunleye.Henderson, the prep woman's national record holder in the 400m, wonthe 400m (52.80, NCAA provisional qualifier) and ran on both of UCLA's
