Senior Julia Barbour Places Second in the 3000m Steeplechase at Friday's Pomona Invitational

Senior Julia Barbour on Friday led UCLA's six runners at the Pomona Invitational, placing second in the 3000m steeplechase.

Barbour, a senior from Dana Point/Dana Hills HS, finished second in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:44.09 (personal-best, No. 2 in UCLA history).

In the 1500m, freshman Alejandra Barrientos finished third, with a season-best time of 4:29.33.

In the 10,000m, freshman Carolyn Shea placed third (37:10.16) and freshman Carmen Winant was fifth (37:38.55). Also running for the Bruins were freshman Lori Mann (37:49.56) and junior Kelly Grimes (38:07.62).

This Weekend (April 20-21)

UCLA will also be competing at the Long Beach Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays. Because of the number of athletes and the lateness of the events, the next UCLA track and field update will be Monday, April 22.
