Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Stanford

Stanford, Calif. - Junior Chris Carnahan and sophomore Mike Sica both shot a 4-under 67 Sunday to lead the Oregon men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the U.S. Intercollegiate, played at the 6,786-yard, par 71 Stanford Golf Course.

The Ducks claimed their fifth straight top-six finish with a 282-296-287-865, 17 strokes behind tournament champion No. 9 USC, which shot a 848. Stanford placed second at 858, while UCLA finished third with an 862.

Individually, Mike Sica carded a career-low 67 in the final round and tied for 45th with a 73-83-67-223. The San Francisco, Calif. native shot his previous career-low of 69 at the 2002 Ping Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson, Ariz.

Chris Carnahan tied for 11th and proved Oregon's top finisher with a 71-77-67-215. Junior John Ellis tied for 23rd with a 69-72-77-218.

Oregon's postseason begins April 25-27 with the Pac-10 Championships at Trysting Tree in Corvallis, Ore.
