Women's Tennis Falls to No. 30 Ranked Washington State

EUGENE, Ore.-Oregon's womens tennis team played well Sunday at the 15th Street tennis courts, but were defeated by No. 30 WSU, 4-3.

The Ducks lost the doubles point, losing all three of their doubles matches. Oregon's doubles team of Courtney Nagle and Davina Mendiburu had an impressive match against WSU's Stacy McKenna and Erika Perkins, however they were unable to pull out a win, and the match went to WSU 8-6.

The Ducks fought back in singles and took away three of the six matches. Oregon's No.1 singles player freshman Daria Panova, added another win to her growing record, against Cougar Erika Perkins, the final score was 6-1,6-4.

The two other Oregon players that were victorious in their matches were, Senior Janice Nyland and Sophomore Davina Mendiburu. Nyland played hard defeating WSU's Orsolya Roganovic, 6-1,6-1. Duck Davina Mendiburu had an wonderful performance as well coming away with a win over Nora Gaal of WSU, 6-2,6-2.

The PAC-10 Championships are next for Oregon's womens tennis team, they start Thursday April, 25 and go until Sunday 28.

No. 5 - Davina Mendiburu (UO) def. Nora Gaal (WSU), 6-2, 6-2

No. 6 - Chris Martinez (WSU) def. Courtney Nagle (UO), 6-3, 6-3


No. 1 - McKenna/Perkins (WSU) def. Nagle/Mendiburu (UO), 8-6

No. 2 - Arias/Martinez (WSU) def. Gieczys/Panova (UO), 8-5

No. 3 - Gaal/Roganovic (WSU) def. Nyland/Ester Bak (UO), 8-5
