Ken Simonton, Vincent Sandoval Sign Free Agent Contracts

CORVALLIS, ORE. - Former Oregon State University football playersKen Simonton and Vincent Sandoval signed free agent contracts with NationalFootball League franchises Monday. Simonton will attempt to make the rosterof the San Francisco 49ers and Sandoval with the New York Giants.
Simonton lettered four years at Oregon State as a running back, and left theprogram as the school's all-time leader in 11 categories, including rushing(5,044 yards), scoring (366 points), and number of 100-yard plus rushinggames (26). The Pittsburg, Cal., native played in 46 career games at OSUand concluded his career second on the Pacific-10 Conference career rushinglist. He was an Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 Conference selection lastseason.
Sandoval started 23 consecutive games, at right tackle as a senior and lefttackle as a junior. The 6-4, 298-pound Palmdale, Cal., native was anHonorable Mention All-Pac-10 Conference selection for the 2001 season.Sandoval is the fifth Beaver lineman to be selected in the NFL Draft or signas a free agent in the last four years.
Linebacker James Allen was the program's lone draftee for 2002, selected inthe third round by the New Orleans Saints.
