Jeanette Bolden's UCLA women's track & field team this weekend (April27-28) will travel to San Diego to compete in the UC San DiegoInvitational. It will be the Bruins final competition before the UCLA/USCannual dual meet, held Saturday, May 4 at UCLA's Drake Stadium.

Last Weekend at Mt. SAC Relays
Last weekend (April 20-21), selected members of the Bruin women track& field team competed at the Mt. SAC Relays, held in Walnut.

Bruin Women at Mt. SAC
Freshman Monique Henderson and seniors, Darnesha Griffith and TracyO'Hara, led the Bruin women at the Mt. SAC Relays.

Henderson, from Morse HS in San Diego, on Sunday competed in twoevents. In her University Open 400m, Henderson placed second (52.78,season-best, NCAA provisional) and in the Invitational 4 X 400m relay, sheran the anchor (51.6) on UCLA's winning relay (3:34.13, season-best, NCAAprovisional). Henderson is UCLA's nominee for the Pac-10 Women's TrackAthlete of the Week honor.

Griffith, from Santa Margarita and Trabuco Hills HS, on Sunday in theInvitational high jump placed fourth, tying her personal-best 6-0 3/4.Griffith in March won the high jump at the 2002 NCAA Indoor meet. Griffithis the Bruins' nominee for the Pac-10 Women's Field Athlete of the Weekhonor.

O'Hara, from San Diego and Rancho Bernardo HS, in Sunday'sInvitational pole vault, placed second, tying her season-best of 14-1 1/4(NCAA automatic). O'Hara is the collegiate outdoor record holder (14-71/4).

Also performing well for the Bruin women at Mt. SAC were ' juniorTiffany Burgess in Sunday's 800m Invitational (6th, 2:06.50), senior BunmiOgunleye in Sunday's long jump Invitational (5th, 20-0 1/2w) and sophomoreCari Soong, who on Sunday won the Open hammer throw competition (202-7).

Selected members of the Bruin women's track & field squad alsocompeted Saturday (April 20) at the Long Beach State Invitational.

The Bruin women were paced by a one-two-three sweep of 100m heatNo. 5 (wind, +2.80, 1. freshman T'Carra Penick, 12.43w, season wind-aidedbest, 2. junior Ola Adenisi, 12.55w, 3. junior Kristen Tucker, 12.68w,season wind-aided best), sophomore Sani Roseby, winning (15.06w) her 110mhurdle heat, sophomore Nicole Gaskins winning (60.89) her 400m hurdle heat,freshman Manyuan Reffell finishing second (1:05.6, season-best) in her 400mhurdle heat and freshman Caroline Sommers placing third (5-7, season-best)in the high jump.
