USC moves to the top of the Pac-10 standings after securing the its second Conference series sweep of the season against WASHINGTON STATE. The wins propelled the Trojans into the Collegiate Baseball poll, ranked at No. 23. USC had not been ranked in any poll since the final week of February ... Both ARIZONA STATE and STANFORD dropped in the polls this week. After losing two games to CALIFORNIA, the Sun Devils fell out of the Baseball America poll, but are ranked No. 30 by Collegiate Baseball and No. 17 by Baseball Weekly.

The Golden Bears host WASHINGTON this weekend. The Huskies are coming off their first ever regular season Pac-10 series win against Stanford last weekend ... The Cardinal visits OREGON STATE, while the Wildcats head to Los Angeles to play the Trojans ... The Cougars face off against UCLA, while the Sun Devils play their final non-conference road games of the regular season. ASU plays at Oklahoma and Notre Dame this week.

ARIZONA (27-16, 5-7)Last Week: vs. Grand Canyon W 17-8, UC Riverside W 5-1, L 5-12, W 13-5 This Week: *at USCThe Wildcats closed out their non-conference regular season last weekend with a midweek win over Grand Canyon and series win against UC Riverside ... Arizona finished with a 22-9 record against non-Pac-10 opponents and earned victories in eight of its 10 non-conference series this season ... SO RHP Sean Rierson pitched his second career complete game last weekend, earning his team-high seventh win on the season. Rierson ranks sixth in the Pac-10 with 63 strikeouts, eighth with a 3.53 ERA and second in innings pitched at 91.2. He is 7-2 on the year with 63 strikeouts. His seven victories are good for a three-way tie for second most in the Conference ... SR SS Brad Hassey's hitting streak was halted at 13 games, after an 0-for-5 performance in the loss to the Highlanders. Hassey's streak was a season-high. He has a .321 batting average, good for second-best on the Wildcats' squad, with six home runs and 35 RBI. In Pac-10 games he is hitting .415 with 22 hits, 11 runs and 10 RBI in 12 Conference contests ... The 'Cats return to Pac-10 action this weekend as they head to Los Angeles to take on USC, the current leader of the Pac-10.

ARIZONA STATE (25-15, 9-6)Last Week: vs. California L 5-9, W 4-3/10, L 3-9 This Week: at Oklahoma, at Notre DameASU had its streak of eight straight Pac-10 series wins snapped with a series loss to California last weekend. The Sun Devils were outscored 22-12 and out-hit .319-.265 by the Golden Bears. In the series ASU left 29 players on base and hit into four double plays ... ASU pitchers gave up five home runs over the weekend, but are still the top team in the Conference in giving up the least amount of homers (22) ... SO RHP Ryan Schroyer improved his record to 4-1 over the weekend with his third win out of the bullpen. The right-hander boasts an 0.83 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 21.2 innings in relief. He ranks second in Pac-10 games with a 0.60 ERA and perfect 3-0 record ... The Sun Devils have the second-best pitching staff in the Conference with a 4.35 team ERA. They rank first in opposing batting average (.255) and strikeouts (341), and have 38 K's more than the second-ranked USC staff (303) ... FR SS Dustin Pedroia leads the Conference with 27 hits in Pac-10 games. On the season he leads the Sun Devils with 18 multi-hit games.

CALIFORNIA (26-19, 8-7)Last Week: vs. Fresno State W 9-2, at ASU W 9-5, L 3-4/10, W 9-3 This Week: *WashingtonThe Golden Bears won its first series at Arizona State since the 1995 season ... SO 1B Conor Jackson was named Pac-10 Player of the Week, marking the third consecutive week a Cal player or pitcher has been so honored. In four games last week, Jackson hit .438 (7-for-16) with a double, four home runs and 10 RBI. He has hit homers in each of his last four games. Jackson leads the Pac-10 in several offensive categories including batting average (.401), slugging percentage (.762), hits (69), RBI (55), home runs (15) and total bases (131) ... JR C John Baker is ranked third in the Conference in Pac-10 only games, batting at a .472 clip. On the season he is hitting .373 (41-for-110). He has scored 25 times and driven in 20 runs ... As a team, the Bears hit .331 against right-handed pitching, while bat just .268 against lefties ... SR RHP Trevor Hutchinson is just four strikeouts shy of surpassing the Cal school record for strikeouts (275 set by Doug Weiss from 1955-57). Hutchinson also ranks second on the Bears innings pitched list with 347.0 career innings ... The Bears have just three Pac-10 series left with games against Washington, Oregon State and Stanford. Cal went 6-3 against those teams in last season's Conference contests.

OREGON STATE (24-14, 4-5)Last Week: Hawaii-Hilo W 11-0/8, UCLA W 9-8, L 1-6, 7-9 This Week: at Portland, *StanfordOregon State split wins and losses last week, picking up two early victories before dropping their last two games and Pac-10 series to UCLA ... SO LF Seth Pietsch is leading the Pac-10 in both doubles (15-tied for first) and triples (6) ... JR 1B Andy Jarvis did well at the plate last week batting .533 (8-for-15) in four games. He also added three home runs, a double, six RBI and one walk. His seven home runs and 30 RBI are good for second-best on the team ... FR CF Aaron Mathews is currently riding an 11-game hitting streak. JR 2B Tom Creighton's hitting streak came to an end Sunday at 15-games. It was the second-longest hitting streak for a Beaver player this season ... SO RHP Jared Sanders, the Pac-10 leader in saves, picked up his eighth of the season in OSU's 9-8 win over UCLA. The eight saves ties the OSU school record for saves in a season ... The Beavers will play the first night game in the 96-year history of Goss Stadium at Coleman Field set for this Friday at 6 p.m. against Stanford.

STANFORD (27-10, 5-4)Last Week: vs. Saint Mary's W 19-2, at Washington L 1-3, W 9-4, L 3-4 This Week: Sacramento State, *at OSUStanford had its regular season series 12-game win streak broken, after losing two-of-three contests at Washington last weekend. The series loss was the Cardinal's first-ever to the Huskies ... With the series loss to UW, Stanford dropped to No. 4 in the national polls, marking the first time the Cardinal has fallen from a top-3 spot this season ... SR 2B Chris O'Riordan is on a career-high tying 11-game hitting streak. He has reached base at least once in all 37 games this season and has hit safely in 34 of those contests ... The Cardinal leads the Pac-10 in pitching with a 3.98 ERA, the only team in the Conference to boast an ERA under 4.00 ... SR Dan Rich picked up Stanford's win against the Huskies after allowing no runs on three hits with six strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched in relief. The 4.2 innings and six K's were career highs for him ... Stanford ranks first in the Pac-10 with a .970 fielding percentage and second with a .325 team batting average.

UCLA (18-23, 4-5)Last Week: at UC Riverside W 4-2, at OSU L 8-9, W 6-1, 9-7 This Week: CS Fullerton, *WSUUCLA won its first Pac-10 series of the season, taking two-of-three games from Oregon State at Corvallis ... UCLA's first Conference series win was bittersweet as several Bruins were injured over the weekend. The most severe of the injuries was to Ben Francisco. The junior right fielder broke his collarbone diving for a ball in the outfield and will be out 4-6 weeks. He ranks ninth in the Pac-10 in batting (.368) and is first in stolen bases with 20 on the season ... SO P/INF Casey Janssen suffered a knee injury last Friday and will be examined by doctors today ... The Bruins (.969) are just one percentage point behind Stanford (.970) for tops in the Pac-10 in team fielding ... In Pac-10 play, UCLA ranks second in pitching with a 5.63 ERA and first in fielding (.986) ... FR Wes Whisler is doing great on the hill against Conference opponents. The lefty pitched his first complete game Saturday against the Beavers, allowing just one run on four hits. In three Pac-10 starts he is a perfect 3-0 with a 1.61 ERA.

USC (24-16, 9-3)Last Week: Loyola Marymount W 8-4, at WSU W 13-7, 15-6, 15-9 This Week: San Diego State, UC Santa Barbara, *ArizonaWith a sweep over Washington State last weekend, the Trojans are at the top of the Pac-10 standings, with one and a half games separating them from the second-place Sun Devils ... USC's sweep over the Cougars was its third three-game sweep of a fellow Conference team this season. The Trojans also recorded sweeps over UCLA and California ... USC outscored WSU 43-19. The Trojans now own a 47-10 all-time record against the Cougars ... SR 1B Bill Peavey had a career weekend against WSU, hitting .818 (9-for-11) with three doubles, three home runs, four walks and 10 RBI. In Friday's game he had his first career five-hit game, three of which were doubles. In Saturday's game he was a perfect 3-for-3 and had a career-high six RBI. Peavey is currently riding a 14-game hitting streak ... USC ranks first in the Pac-10 in batting with a .326 average. The Trojans are also leading the Conference with a .365 batting average in Pac-10 only games ... Three Trojans rank in the top-10 of the league standings in hitting. JR C Alberto Concepcion is second in the Conference with a .399 batting average, while Peavey is third at .392 and FR DH Joey Metropoulos ranks fifth hitting at a .373 clip.

WASHINGTON (17-19-1, 5-4)Last Week: Lewis-Clark St. L 5-6, Stanford W 3-1, L 4-9, W 4-3 This Week: *at CaliforniaWashington became the first Pac-10 team this season to win a series over Stanford. It marked the first time in regular season play that the Huskies took a league series from the Cardinal. Washington did beat Stanford in the 1997 and 1998 Pac-10 Championship Series ... SR RHP Shawn Kohn earned his first ever Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week award after picking up both wins against the Cardinal. Over the weekend he was 2-0, with a 0.82 ERA in 11.0 innings pitched, 8 hits (7 singles, 1 double), zero walks and three strikeouts. Kohn has more wins than any Husky pitcher since 1999. Known for his control, he has yet to throw a wild pitch in 80.0 innings this season ... In the series against Stanford Husky pitchers walked only two batters in 28 innings ... FR C Aaron Hathaway has started 26 of 37 at catcher and is batting .360 with two homers, 22 RBI and six stolen bases.

WASHINGTON STATE (14-23, 2-10)Last Week: USC L 7-13, 3-15, 9-15 This Week: at Lewis-Clark St., *at UCLAThe Washington State squad is struggling, riding a five game losing streak. The Cougars last win was a 4-2 victory over Washington, April 12th ... WSU has had a tough time in Pac-10 games with a 2-10 record, but has hit well, ranking third in the Conference with a .319 batting average in Pac-10 games ... SO LF Justin Hart has done well in league games, batting .405 with 12 RBI against Conference opponents ... The Cougars' batting average against right-handers is .316, as opposed to .281 versus lefties. WSU is hitting .293 with the bases empty, .325 with runners on and .362 with the bases loaded.
