April 29, 2002

EUGENE, Ore. - The University of Oregon softball team (22-24 overall, 1-14 Pac-10) will take a break from conference action, hosting Hawaii in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at Howe Field Tuesday. Hawaii (32-22 overall, 13-7 WAC) split with Portland State last week, defeating the Vikings 2-1 and 5-1 while falling 3-2 and 3-0 in the other two contests.

Last weekend, Oregon snapped a 32 game Pac-10 losing streak, defeating No. 5 Arizona State 4-2 in Tempe, Ariz. Junior Alyssa Laux hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning as the Ducks went on to score four runs to defeat the Sun Devils for their first conference win of the season. Freshman pitcher Lindsey Kontra picked up the win for Oregon, her third upset of the season.

Oregon will return to Pac-10 play this weekend, hosting No. 8 Washington and No. 1 UCLA.
