Women's Soccer Announces Signing

May 1, 2002

LOS ANGELES - Midfielder Hillary Schwarzbach from San Lorenzo Valley High in Felton, Calif., has signed a letter-of-intent to play soccer at USC for the 2002 season, head coach Jim Millinder announced today.

'Hillary will bring a tremendous amount of athleticism to our team,' said Millinder. 'She can play up front or in the back and is a potential starter for us. She is a real diamond in the rough.'

Schwarzbach recorded 12 goals and 10 assists in her 2002 senior season, leading San Lorenzo Valley to the CCS Division III final. She earned San Jose Mercury News and Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League first team honors this year and was a member of the 2000 Cal-North Olympic Development Program state team. She also competed on San Lorenzo Valley's cross country and track teams.

The Trojans are coming off a 10-7-2 season, including the program's fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and a fourth-place finish in the Pac-10 Conference. The team recently registered spring scrimmage wins over national powers Nebraska (3-2) and Notre Dame (1-0).
