Women's Basketball Signs JC Point Guard
May 2, 2002
Los Angeles, Calif. -- Tiffany Hicks, a junior college point guard from Lincoln, Neb., has signed a letter of intent with USC, announced women's basketball head coach Chris Gobrecht today. Hicks will have two years of eligibility with the Women of Troy.
'I think Tiffany will definitely address our needs next season at the point guard position,' said Gobrecht. 'She is perfect for the team because we have a lot of talented players who just need someone that can bring it all together. Tiffany has the quickness to defend and the ability to do the necessary things in the open court.'
Hicks, a 5-foot-6 two-year starter at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, helped lead the Reivers to the 2002 District Championship, a 30-5 record and a fifth-place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Tournament this season. The team's regular season record marked a best-ever for IWCC women's basketball and their national finish is a best-ever for IWCC athletics.
