Bruins Second After Round One At NCAA West Regionals

The UCLA women's golf team is in second place after the first round at the NCAA West Regionals at the Stanford Golf Course.

The Bruins posted a score of 296, eight-over par, and trail first-place Pepperdine by seven shots. Cal is third at 297, followed by Arizona at 299 and New Mexico at 302.

Individually for the Bruins, sophomore Gina Umeck is tied for fourth place after firing a first round score of 71, one-under par. Freshman Yvonne Choe is tied for sixth at even par 72. Sophomore Melissa Martin is tied for 26th at 76, followed by senior Alicia Um who is tied for 38th at 77. Freshman Charlotte Mayorkas is tied for 42nd at 78.

Pepperdine's Katherine Hull posted a three-under par 69 and leads the field. Kristi Larson of New Mexico and Lorena Ochoa are tied for second place at two-under par 70.
