Rondeau Named Dir. of Broadcasting for Husky Radio Network

Seattle - Bob Rondeau has signed a five-year contract with Action Sports Media to serve as the Director of Broadcasting for the Husky Radio Network. Rondeau's responsibilities include handling the play-by-play announcing for Washington's football and men's basketball games on the Husky Radio Network.
He will assist in the oversight of the gameday broadcast operations for both programs in addition to other duties for ASM. Rondeau will have additional broadcasting opportunities, including a 30-minute weekly show, for SportsRadio KJR-AM in Seattle, the flagship station for the Husky Radio Network.
Rondeau has worked on the Huskies' radio broadcast crew for Fisher Broadcasting since 1978, except for a three-year period from 1986-88 when KIRO-Radio owned the UW radio rights.
'Since we signed our contract with the Huskies, Washington's fans have said the most important thing for the Husky Radio Network is to have Bob Rondeau call the games,' says Ralph McBarron, vice president and general manager of Action Sports Media. 'I have been fortunate to work with some of the hall of fame broadcasters, like Cawood Ledford at Kentucky and Bob Davis at Kansas. Bob is right there. He is one of the great voices in college athletics and a great ambassador for the Huskies. We are elated to have him associated with ASM and working in this capacity. We have big plans for the Husky broadcasts and Bob is going to play a very important role making those things happen.'

Washington's contract with ASM is a five-year agreement from July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2007. The contract can be extended, upon mutual agreement of both parties, for a total of up to five additional years.
Action Sports Media is a Paul Allen company, and is a leader in collegiate sports marketing. ASM's network of universities currently includes 16 institutions participating in intercollegiate athletics. The company's expertise includes radio, signage and corporate sponsorship and promotion. Action Sports Media is headquartered in Portland.
