Beaver Baseball Camps Scheduled

May 31, 2002

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The 2002 Beaver Baseball Camps will be held this summer in two sessions at Oregon State's Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. There will be a day camp for players age 7-13 from June 17-19 and an overnight camp for players age 8-17 from July 28-Aug. 1.

Camp instructors include Oregon State head coach Pat Casey, OSU assistant coaches Gary Henderson and Dan Spencer and a number of outstanding junior college and high school coches.

Both camps include instruction in all positions and game situations, with emphasis on proper techniques of hitting, pitching, catching, infield and outfield play, baserunning and team defense. All areas of the game will be covered, with students receiving individual instruction with emphasis given to campers' primary areas of interest.

Games will be played each day for an opportunity to allow players to incorporate the techniques they have learned and to improve confidence in their abilities.

The day camp runs each day from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., with registration on June 17 at 8 a.m. at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. Tuition for the day camp is $125.

The overnight camp runs from July 28 at 1 p.m. to Aug. 1 at 11:30 a.m., with check-in on July 28 at 1 p.m. at Hawley Hall. Tuition is $360; there is an option for day campers and tuition for that plan is $270.

For more information or to receive a camp brochure, call the OSU baseball office at (541) 737-7484 or (541) 737-5738.
