Logan Tom Returns Home to Lead U.S. Women against Italy

Colorado Springs, Colo. - Logan Tom is going home. Tom, who first made a name for herself in the world of volleyball as a junior club player in Salt Lake City, returns to Utah to lead the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team in a four-match domestic tour against the Italian National Team June 28-July 4.
Tom, a 2000 Olympian, is a three-time American Volleyball Coaches Association first-team All-America selection. She was named the AVCA National Player of the Year in 2001 and guided Stanford University's women's volleyball team to a record-fifth NCAA championship.
Tom recently rejoined Team USA after completing her junior year at Stanford. The team, which is currently in Russia for a series of four matches later this week, is gearing up to defend its World Grand Prix crown in Asia later this summer. The United States, which began the 2002 season ranked No. 5 in the world, is also one of 24 teams that have qualified for the 2002 Women?s Volleyball World Championships, which will be held in Germany from Aug. 30-Sept. 15.
The matches, held in conjunction with the USA Junior Olympic Girls Volleyball Championships, will be played on Friday June 28, Sunday June 30, Tuesday July 2 and Thursday July 4 at the South Towne Exposition Center in Sandy, Utah.
Each match is tentatively scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. (MDT). Admission to the matches is free for participants of the USA Junior Olympic Girls Volleyball Championships and for ticketed attendees of the junior tournament.
