Copeland Leads Baseball All-Academic Honors

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State had four players named to the Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic Team that was announced Wednesday. Junior pitcher Stephen Copeland (Keizer, Ore./McNary HS) was a first-team selection; earning honorable mention were senior utility player Tom Creighton (Weldon, Calif./Kern Valley HS, Fresno State U.), junior pitcher Mark McLemore (Granite Bay, Calif./Del Oro HS) and sophomore pitcher Ben Rowe (Perth, Australia/Greenwood HS).
To be eligible for the all-academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and be either a starter or significant substitute for their team.
Copeland is majoring in Mathematics and has a cumulative GPA of 3.75. This season, he had a 5-3 record and a 5.49 earned run average.
Creighton is majoring in Agricultural Business and has a cumulative GPA of 3.16. This season, he batted .298 with four home runs and 36 runs batted in while starting at five different positions and playing two others.
McLemore is majoring in Business and has a cumulative GPA of 3.27. This season, he had a 3-5 record and a 5.17 ERA; he was selected by the Houston Astros in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball draft.
Rowe is majoring in Business and has a cumulative GPA of 3.13. This season, he had a 7-5 record and a 5.71 ERA; he was named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week after throwing a four-hitter to beat fourth-ranked Stanford 3-1 on April 26.
