Stroh, Morgan, Rodrick To Captain Cougs In 2002
June 27, 2002
The trio will take over for departed seniors Beth Childs and Lindsey Jorgensen, who held two of the three captain positions in 2001. The third was Rodrick.
'We are extremely pleased to announce our three captains for the upcoming season. They will provide outstanding leadership in all areas and will represent the soccer program and Washington State University in a first class manner,' Tobias said. 'Their leadership will be an integral part of our immediate and future success as we have the utmost confidence in the quality of their character.'
Stroh, a native of Federal Way, Wash., enters her final season with the Cougars already number three on the school's all-time list for goals with 16, and points with 45. She is also in the top five in assists, game-winning goals, and multiple goal matches. The midfielder has started 50 of the 56 matches she has played in since joining the lineup as a freshman.
Morgan, a product of Highline High School in Seattle, started all 37 matches during her freshman and sophomore seasons and has a pair of memorable goals during that span. The junior midfielder knocked in the game-winners in overtime against New Mexico in 2001 and Washington in 2000.
Rodrick will serve as team captain for the second-straight season in 2002. The University Place, Wash., native already has 12 goals and 31 points after just two seasons, good for seventh and sixth on the WSU all-time lists, respectively. Like Morgan, Rodrick has started all 37 matches over the last two seasons.
The Cougars begin their season Aug. 30 in Missoula, Mont., against Minnesota.
