Cael Sanderson To Appear As Guest Instructor At Sun Devil Wrestling Camp, Sunday, July 7

TEMPE, Ariz. - Cael Sanderson, the first four-time undefeated NCAA collegiate wrestling champion, will appear as a guest instructor at Arizona State head coach Thom Ortiz's Sunkist Kids/Sun Devil Wrestling Camp, Sunday, July 7, from 7-9 p.m. at Tempe High School in Tempe, Ariz.

Sanderson compiled a perfect record of 159-0 in his four seasons at Iowa State University en route to four national titles. He was the first wrestler to be named the NCAA Championships' Most Outstanding Wrestler four times and was also the first wrestler to be awarded the Hodge Trophy (nation's top collegiate wrestler) three times. Sanderson was also a two-time Academic All-American at ISU.

A native of Heber City, Utah, Sanderson graduated with a bachelor's degree in art and design from Iowa State last December. He recently took an administrative assistant position with the Iowa State athletic department where he will work with community relations, fund-raising and administrative responsibilities.

Sanderson is also nominated for three ESPY awards including Best Male Athlete, Best Record-Breaking Performance and Best Male College Athlete. ESPN's 2002 ESPY Awards will be held Wednesday, July 10, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., at 6 p.m. PT.

Ortiz mentored Sanderson while serving as an assistant coach at Iowa State prior to taking the head coaching position at his alma mater before the 2001-02 season.
