WSU, OCSN Launch

July 30, 2002

PULLMAN, Wash. --- Washington State University and the Official College Sports Network launched Tuesday, a website that will promote and track the senior quarterback's bid for the prestigious Heisman Trophy.

The site can be accessed through the athletic department's main page and football page at, or browsers can type in for the most direct route.

Biographical information, career stats, including game-by-game breakdowns, recent news, and a photo gallery of the Honolulu, Hawaii, native are featured on the site. Gesser's weekly teleconferences will be included when the season begins, as will highlights from his first three seasons.

Gesser threw for 3,010 yards and 26 touchdowns in 2001, leading WSU to a 10-2 record and a win in the Sun Bowl. Entering his senior season, Gesser is ninth among college football's active players in passing yards and wins as a starting quarterback, and sixth in touchdown passes.

The latest in a long line of talented WSU quarterbacks, Gesser is closing in on several school career records. The 1998 St. Louis High graduate needs 2,397 passing yards, 1,984 yards total offense, and 18 touchdown passes to eclipse WSU career marks.

Gesser and the Cougars begin their 2002 campaign Aug. 31 in Seattle against Nevada.
