Brown And Yeats Earn ITA Scholar-Athlete Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State University women's tennis players Mhairi Brown and Megan Yeats were named to the 2002 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete Team, announced by the ITA.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status at the NCAA level a player must meet the following criteria: Be a junior or senior in school, be a varsity letterwinner and have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale).

Already garnering Academic All-American honors, Brown, a junior last season from Kirkcaldy, Scotland, holds a perfect 4.00 grade-point average in exercise science. She finished the season with a team-high 9-4 record against Pac-10 schools and a team second-best 23 wins, playing mainly at the No. 3 singles position for the Sun Devils.

Yeats, who hails from Hudson, New York, was also a junior last season and carries a 3.63 grade-point average in English with a minor in Spanish. Limited for most of the season, Yeats posted 12 singles wins along with 18 doubles victories between the No. 2 and 3 positions.
