Baron Davis Added To U. S. Squad For Upcoming FIBA World Championships

Aug. 6, 2002

Bruin greats Baron Davis and Reggie Miller are on the U. S. squad for the upcoming FIBA World Championships, Aug. 28-Sept. 8 in Indianapolis.

Davis was added to the U. S. roster on Monday, replacing New Jersey Net standout Jason Kidd, who is injured (groin). Davis, UCLA's point guard for two years (1997-99), is entering his fourth season with the New Orleans Hornets. He just signed a new deal that added six years to the one year left on his previous contract, reportedly worth $84 million.

Miller, who has established himself as one of greatest long-range shooters in NBA history, will be entering his 15th season with the Indiana Pacers. A two-time (1987-86) All-Pac-10 performer for the Bruins, Miller was a first-round draft pick by the Pacers in 1987. He won a Gold Medal on the U. S. team at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta.
