ASU Football To Help Raise Money For Fire Fund 2002

Aug. 8, 2002

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State University Football program and the Heber-Overgaard Fire Department joined hands to help raise money for Fire Fund 2002. Fans attending the annual Camp Tontozona scrimmage Sunday at 10:15 a.m. will have the opportunity to donate to the fund that will help rebuild the Heber-Overgaard area after the Rodeo-Chedeski fires this summer.

Chief Melvin Epps and members of the Heber-Overgaard Fire Dept. will be on hand Sunday graciously accepting any donations. The Rodeo-Chedeski fires burned over 450,000 acres in the North Pines area, causing the most damage in and around the Heber-Overgaard area. All proceeds will go directly to help rebuild the destruction caused in Heber-Overgaard.

Payson mayor Ken Murphy along with Arizona State Sun Angel Foundation member Thomas Gardner were instrumental in helps set up the joint effort between the Heber-Overgaard Fire Dept. and ASU. For more information or to donate to Fire Fund 2002, people can contact the Heber-Overgaard Fire Dept. at (928) 535-4346.
