Lindsey Yamasaki Rejoins Stanford Volleyball Team For 2002 Season
Aug. 22, 2002
'Lindsey is very experienced,' noted Dunning. 'There's a natural and fluid way she plays the game and she has very good vision of the court. She has been very positive and hard-working since her return to the team. She can clearly help us.'
Yamasaki, who plays both volleyball and basketball, competed with the Cardinal volleyball team in 1999, but decided to play only basketball for her remaining three years. After completing her four-year eligibility in basketball, Yamasaki was drafted in the second round by the Miami Sol of the WNBA and competed with the team for the summer of 2002.
'I am thrilled to have the opportunity to end my career on such an exciting and personally full-filling note,' said Yamasaki. 'And what better team to join than the defending national champs. I have looked forward to playing volleyball again and my last chance to play on a national championship team. I love the team and coaches.'
As a freshman in 1999, Yamasaki averaged 2.54 kills and 2.04 digs on her way to being named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman team and honorable mention All-Pac-10.
The 6-2 outside hitter will be completing her degree in sociology during the fall quarter.
