BLAINE, Wash. - Sophomore Brett Wiesner registered a hat trick and junior transfer Sean Giudice added two goals Sunday as the Washington men's soccer team started the season with a 7-1 exhibition victory over the University of British Columbia at Blaine High School.

A pair of Washington seniors scored the first two goals. Kyle Fukuchi opened the scoring in the eighth minute and Dayo Oyetuga followed four minutes later.

Wiesner, who received honorable mention All-Pac-10 acclaim as a freshman last year, netted the next three tallies to extend the lead to 5-0 at halftime. He scored in the 15th and 27th minutes before completing the hat trick with a goal just 21 seconds before halftime.

Steve Frazao recorded the lone British Columbia tally in the 46th minute.

Giudice scored the final two goals in his Husky debut. The Cal State Fullerton transfer found the back of the net in the 62nd and 68th minutes.

The Huskies play their first regular-season game on Saturday against Central Florida at Portland's Merlo Field.
