WSU Tennis Coach Invited To The NCAA Tournament Selection Committee

Aug. 27, 2002

PULLMAN, Wash.-- Washington State Head Tennis Coach Cari Groce has been selected to the NCAA Division I Women's Tournament Selection Committee. Groce, entering her 12th season as coach of the Cougars, will represent the West region for a three-year term beginning this season.

'This is something I'm very excited about,' Groce said. 'I'm looking forward to this opportunity. It will be a lot of work in the spring, but this is a nice honor.'

Groce will research all the tennis programs in the West region and help decide which teams, singles players and doubles tandems will enter the NCAA Tournament.

Groce was also named the 2002 Pacific-10 Women's Coach of the Year after guiding the Cougars to the NCAA Team Tournament for the third time in the last four seasons. Groce, whose team ranked as high as No. 26 last season, also earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Coach of the Year Award for the Northwest Region.
