WSU Swimmer Competes in Japan

YOKOHAMA, Japan -- Washington State University freshman swimmer Jane Copland made an impact at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships as she competed against world-class swimmers from several different countries

Copland, a freshman from Napier, New Zealand, advanced in Tuesday's preliminaries with a time of 2:36.38 in the 200m breast stroke. Copland competed in Wednesday's semifinals and finished 15th with a time of 2:36.40. Australian Leisel Jones took first with a time of 2:26.86.

In the 200m individual medley, Copland finished 23rd with a time of 2:25.15. Copland also teamed with fellow New Zealand swimmers to finish fifth in Thursday's 4x100 Medley Relay with a time of 4:16.97. The Australians took first with a time of 4:00.50.
