WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- USC goalkeeper Julie Peterson has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 3-Sept. 9, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Peterson, from Mission Viejo, Calif., recorded back-to-back shutouts last week at the UCLA Women's Cup against No. 2 Virginia and No. 5 Penn State, leading the Trojans to the tournament championship. Peterson had six saves in Friday's 1-0 win against Penn State and two saves on Sunday in a scoreless tie against Virginia. Peterson has a 0.71 goals against average on the season, with 16 saves and two shutouts.

USC (1-2-1), which is ranked 21st in Soccer America's current Top-25 poll, heads to Winston-Salem, N.C., to face Vanderbilt and Wake Forest in the Demon Deacons' home tournament, Sept. 13 and 15, respectively.

This is Peterson's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and USC's 13th Player of the Week honor all-time.
