Women's Tennis Players Earn Singles And Doubles National Ranking

TEMPE, Ariz. - Three Arizona State women's tennis players and two doubles teams were cited in the 2002-03 preseason edition of the Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings, administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Senior and three-time All-American Adria Engel checks in at No. 9 in the nation after earning her third All-American honor last year with a 24-15 overall record and a return trip to the NCAA singles quarterfinals.
Junior Dora Krstulovic, who claimed Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 status last season, will start the preseason with a No. 21 national ranking after finishing with a 17-6 overall record.
Senior Mhairi Brown rounds out the trio with a No. 53 singles ranking after recording a 26-16 overall record.
In doubles, the pair of Engel and Krstulovic will start the year as the No. 3 doubles team in the country. The duo finished the 2002 season as All-Americans with a 13-9 mark and a No. 9 national ranking.
The Sun Devils other doubles tandem of Brown and junior Cindy Sureephong come in at No. 45 after posting a solid 8-4 record, 4-1 in the Pac-10.
Arizona State will start the fall season, hosting their annual Thunderbird Invitational, November 8-10.
