Carter, Klaic Lead Women's Tennis Selections For All-American Championships

SEATTLE, Wash.- Two doubles teams and six singles players have been selected to represent the Washington women's tennis team at the ITA Women's All-American Championships Oct. 5-13 in Los Angeles, Calif., the ITA announced Wednesday.

Ranked 11th nationally in this week's preseason poll, the Husky doubles team of junior Claire Carter (Nottingham, England) and senior Darija Klaic (Zupanja, Croatia) earned a main draw selection. The pair was also selected to compete in the singles qualifying round.

Chosen to compete in the pre-qualifying singles tournament for UW were senior Colleen Gray (Granite Bay, Calif.), freshman Dinka Hadzic (Split, Croatia), junior Erin Hoe (Miliani, Hawai'i), and sophomore Dea Sumantri (Jakarta, Indonesia). The team of Gray and Sumantri was also selected to compete in the doubles portion of the pre-qualifying tournament.

Two Husky doubles team made the alternate list for the pre-qualifying rounds including Hadzic and senior Erin Boisclair (Agoura Hills, Calif.), and Hoe and senior Andrea Coulter (Calgary, Canada).

The Women's ITA All-American Championships get underway with pre-qualifying rounds Saturday, Oct. 5, through Sunday, Oct. 6, followed by the qualifying rounds Tuesday, Oct. 8, and Wednesday, Oct. 9. The main draw rounds will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, through Sunday, Oct. 13.
