'Michael played solid golf the whole tournament,' second-year coach Brian Watts said. 'He had some putts that didn't fall for him today, but to shoot under par here is playing great golf.'

Jurgensen carded rounds of 70 and 73 on Friday and entered the final round tied for fourth. He finished with a 2-under 214, tied with Arizona's Ricky Barnes and UTEP's Dan Swanson.Jurgensen's previous best finish was a tie for fourth at the 2001 U.S. Intercollegiate as asophomore in 2001.

OSU got off to a blistering start after Friday's first round, shooting 2-under 286, but fell back in the second round with a 303.

'We looked like a championship team in the first round,' Watts said. 'We struggled after that and started pressing a little bit, but they maintained a positive attitude throughout. I'm proud of them.'

UNM's Michael Letzig took medalist honors with a 9-under 207, and New Mexico, which hosted the tournament, earned a five-stroke win with an 864.

OSU's Sean Deacon was the Beavers' next highest finisher, shooting 6-over 222; Chance Holmes totaled 227, Kenny Coakley a 227, and Daren Greig a 229.

'We struggled over the last four or five holes today,' Watts said. 'Otherwise, we're looking at a finish in the top four or five. We had a good attitude throughout the whole tournament though - there are a lot of positives to take from this.'
