UCLA Leads OSU Tournament after First Round

The UCLA women's golf team was in first place after 18 holes in the Oregon State Shanico Invitational Monday at Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis, OR.

The Bruins posted a team score of 291, three-over par, and led second place California by six shots. Host Oregon State was third at 298, followed by Colorado at 301. San Jose State was fifth at 302.

Junior Melissa Martin fired a one-under par 71 and was alone in third place. Junior transfer Hana Kim posted an even par score of 72 and was tied for fourth, followed by junior Gina Umeck and sophomore Yvonne Choe, who were tied for 11th at two-over par 74. Junior Saki Uechi posted a 79 and was tied for 48th place.

Idaho's Nicole Keller and Cal's Vikki Laing were tied for first place after posting two-under par scores of 70.

Second round action continues Monday afternoon with the final round commencing Tuesday.
