Arizona Men's Tennis Players Win Four Matches At Day One of Napa Valley Fall Classic

NAPA VALLEY, Calif.-Arizona men's tennis team won three single matches and one doubles match at the opening day of competition at the Napa Valley Fall Classic Friday.

In round one of the singles competition, sophomore Paul Warkentin, sophomore Colin O'Grady and freshman Daniel Andrus each won their matches. Warkentin defeated Illinois' Chris Martin in three sets; 7-6(5), 1-6, 6-3. O'Grady beat Connor Murnighan of Illinois; 6-7(5), 7-6(3), 6-2. Andurs won in two sets over Jeff King of California; 6-4, 6-3.

Junior Whi Kim fell in three sets to Amer Delic of Illinois; 7-6(4), 5-7, 6-1. Senior Tom Lloyd lost to Illinois' Philip Stolt; 6-1, 6-4.

In doubles competition, Paul Warkentin and Daniel Andrus defeated Georgia's tandem of Jason Varela and Trevor Wilson by a count of 8-5. The Arizona duo of Carl Hagman and Tom Lloyd lost to the Illinois team of Chris Martin and Ryler Deheart by a score of 9-7. Whi Kim and Colin O'Grady also lost their doubles macth against Brian Wilson and Philip Stolt of Illinois, 8-4.

Action continues Saturday at the three-day event in Napa, Calif.
