TEMPE, Ariz. - With Elizabeth Bogus scoring her third goal in as many home games and Temryss Lane notching her second goal of the season, the Arizona State Sun Devils (3-1-2) managed a 2-0 victory over the San Diego Toreros (5-2-1) Friday night at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. Bogus got the Devils going just past the halfway mark of the first half of off an assist by Brittany Cooper. Cooper's pass split two defenders and found Bogus on a diagonal run, who then found herself one-on-one with San Diego keeper Natalie Bobbit. Bogus tapped the ball around the keeper and finished into the open net from 15 yards for her third goal of the season.
A little over eight minutes later, ASU found themselves up by two after Lane put a first-time shot in from six yards out off a cross from Haley van Blommestein. Van Blommestein drove in the cross from the left under close marking from a Torero defender.
Kelly Fitzgerald recorded her second shutout in a row for ASU after making two saves on the night. San Diego couldn't manage a shot in the first half but the second half was closer with the Devils holding a slight 6-5 edge in the shot category.
