2002 Men's Tennis Season Review
USC won the 2002 NCAA team title, while UCLA claimed the Conference Championship with a 6-1 record in Pac-10 play. The Bruins' Rodrigo Grilli won the singles title at the Pac-10 Championships in Ojai, Calif., while the UCLA duo of Marcin Matkowski and Jean-Julien Rojer captured the doubles title.
STANFORD's K.J. Hippensteel was named Pac-10 Player of the Year. Matkowski and Rojer were named the Doubles Team of the Year. WASHINGTON's Alex Vlaski earned the Freshman of the Year honors.
USC head coach Richard Leach was named the Pac-10 Coach of the Year. Leach guided the Trojans to a 19-5 record and its fourth NCAA title under his reign. It was the fifth honor for the USC tennis coach, who retired following the NCAA Championships.
