2002 Women's Tennis Season Review
STANFORD was perfect in Pac-10 action in 2002, posting an 8-0 Conference mark and 22-1 overall record en route to winning a second consecutive NCAA team title. In doubles action, the Cardinal duo of Lauren Kalvaria and Gabriela Lastra defeated fellow Pac-10 pair Megan Bradley and Lauren Fisher of UCLA to win the NCAA title. The Cardinal's Lastra defeated Jewel Peterson of USC, 6-3, 6-3, to win the Pac-10 women's singles title at 'The Ojai.'
CALIFORNIA's Christina Fusano and Raquel Kops-Jones defeated UCLA's Megan Bradley and Lauren Fisher 8-6 tocapture the doubles title.
Lastra was named Pac-10 Tennis Player of the Year, while she and Kalvaria were named Pac-10 Doubles Team of the Year.
Bradley took home Freshman of the Year honors.
Washington State's Cari Groce was selected as Pac-10 Coach of the Year after leading the Cougars to an 11-10 overall record and a seventh-place Pac-10 finish. It was Groce's fourth Pac-10 Coach of the Year honor.
