Women's Golf Finishes 11th At Dick McGuire Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Led by freshman Alissa Kuczka, the Arizona State women's golf team finished 11th at the Comcast/Dick McGuire Invitational, held Sept. 26-28 at the par 73, 6,069-yard University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course.
The Sun Devils shot a 22-over 314 in the final round to finish 11th with a three-round total of 935. Host New Mexico won its own tournament, finishing seven strokes ahead of Washington (898) and Pepperdine (898) with a three-round total of 15-over 891. Rounding out the top five were Oklahoma (901) which finished fourth and Tulsa and New Mexico State who tied for fifth with three-round totals of 907.
For the Sun Devils, Kuczka, who hails from Phoenix, Ariz., finished in a tie for 23rd at nine-over 228 (74-79-75). Senior Blair O'Neal (Tempe, Ariz.) tied for 45th (83-72-81=236), while senior Melanie Hunt (Phoenix, Ariz.) finished in a tie for 49th with a three-day total of 237 (77-77-83),
Rounding out the Sun Devil lineup were sophomore Josefin Gustafsson (Falkoping, Sweden) who tied for 55th at 239 (83-76-80) and freshman Meredith Jones (Eugene, Ore.) who turned in her best round of the tournament with a five-over 78 Saturday to finish 85th (87-83-78). Sophomore Erin Tone (Gilbert, Ariz.), who played as an individual, also carded her best round of the event with a four-over 77 to end up tied for 86th (85-87-77=249).
Individually, Pepperdine's Katherine Hull and Oklahoma's Lisa Meldrum tied for medalist honors, each finishing at eight-under 211.
Arizona State returns to action Oct. 18-20 at the Pepsi/Stanford Intercollegiate in Palo Alto, Calif.
