Escobar Named Pac-10 Volleyball Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA STATE outside hitter Juliana Escobar has been named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 23-Sept. 29, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Escobar, a junior from Sobradinho DF, Brazil, recorded 20 kills (6.67 kpg) and 16 digs (5.33 dpg), both match highs, while also leading the Sun Devils with three service aces in a 3-0 win over No. 12-ranked ARIZONA. On the season, Escobar is averaging 4.66 kills per game, 3.12 digs per game and 0.84 aces per game.

In the upset win, Arizona State (6-2, 2-1 in Pac-10) broke a five-match losing streak against the Wildcats.

This is the first weekly honor for Escobar, Arizona State's 14th Player of the Week honor all-time.
