Volleyball Hosts Oregon State In Dodge Civil War Match Up

THE SERIES The Ducks lead the series versus Oregon State, 52-32-1. Oregon lost both matches to the Beavers last season and last defeated them 3-0 at Gill Coliseum in 2000.

RECENTLY Oregon took a two game lead over the Pilots Monday evening before Portland came out and took game three. The Ducks picked up the victory after taking the fourth game. Three Oregon players -- Lindsay Closs (17), Kelly Russell (16) and Dariam Acevedo (15) -- had 15 or more kills while junior outside hitter Heather Gilmore added 13 kills and 13 digs for her first double double of the season.

A LOOK AT OREGON STATE tate The Beavers have never opened Pac-10 play 0-4 under head coach Nancy Somera. Defensively, Oregon State has been strong with Nikki Neuburger second in the conference in digs per game (3.93) and Megan McMillan ninth (3.16 dpg). As a team, the Beavers lead the league, averaging 17.44 digs per game.

WHAT'S HAPPENED Oregon lost a difficult match to California last Friday, falling 3-2, after leading the match 2-1. Dariam Acevedo had her second consecutive double double in the match (19 kills, 18 digs) and Lindsay Closs added 19 kills and nine blocks. Junior libero Lindsay Murphy was stellar defensively, tying a career-high with 20 digs. Oregon's 80 kills and 217 attempts were both season highs. On Saturday, Oregon faced defending national champion Stanford, ranked No. 4 at the time, and dropped a 3-0 decision.
